Morning walkies on the beach. I adore this creature 🐾...and the place we live in 🙏
Highland Threads - An exciting new online exhibition showcasing treasured costumes from fourteen museums across the Highlands of Scotland opens tomorrow, 1 April. The virtual exhibition showcases a treasured costume from each of the museum's collections, alongside stories of the people who made the cloth, who wore the clothes and where they were produced.
My first attempt at solar dyeing... I used turmeric to dye a pair of alpaca socks with the help of mordant... turned out quite well 🤩
Scottish artist Joan Eardley is one of my most favourite artists ever. I feel very inspired by her style and that of artists whose style carries her influence. To mark the centenary of her birth a series of events are taking place this year to celebrate her life and work.
It's exciting to see our range of activities expanding! Meet artist Clare Workman who loves to share her passion for quilting with others. Why not get a group of fellow quilting enthusiasts together and let us design a bespoke itinerary for a quilting tour - e.g. a Mary Queen of Scots themed experience. Just an idea 😉
Did you know that Scots is one of Scotland's three national languages with over 1.5 million speakers (2011 census)? It is also recognised as a language by the European Charter for Minority Languages. You can learn more about Scots and share the joy of singing on our singing holiday Gie's A Sang with the amazing @robyn.stapleton.
This September we set sail to explore the wildlife and find artistic inspiration on our cruise of the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles.
