Under the guidance of our skilled sewing tutor, Gill McBride, you’ll gain invaluable insights, tips, and techniques to create beautiful garments in the comfort of your own home. Gill’s expertise covers understanding sewing patterns, achieving the perfect fit, mastering sewing techniques, and much more.

Throughout the 4-day tuition, you’ll learn to create a practice garment, tailor the fit to your measurements, optimize pattern cutting, and make the most of your fabric. With a range of workshops to choose from, including dress and blouse making, trouser fitting, and jacket tailoring, you’ll have ample opportunities to refine your skills. By the end of the holiday, you’ll have produced a toile, translated your fitting adjustments to the pattern, and proudly take home a finished garment.

Our sewing and dressmaking courses cater to both beginners and experienced sewers, although the Tailoring a Jacket workshop is best suited for those with some sewing experience. Leading the course is the talented Gill McBride, an experienced seamstress and passionate educator. With over a decade of teaching expertise, Gill established a successful sewing school in Perthshire. She is the author of the acclaimed books ‘Understanding and Adjusting Sewing Patterns’ and ‘Tailoring a Jacket’. Gill’s clear and enthusiastic teaching approach has been cherished by her students for years.
