KStrang_20171014About me

I am a professional Scottish artist based in Central Scotland, working from my studio in a wonderful Regency Townhouse in Alloa. I studied painting at Glasgow School Of Art, and postgraduate at the Academy of Fine Arts, Warsaw. I have been awarded a number of travel grants including visits to Berlin, Paris and Prague.
I work from life whenever, whether plein-air from the local surroundings, including the Forth Estuary and the Ochils and further afield.
I also study the human figure from life as part of my atelier practice. I am currently working on the theme of Scottish Witchcraft, its history including the trials as well as places associated with mythological and early settlements including sacred sites of standing stones and wells.

Things I love

I approach my painting with an appreciation of observation and drawing from life and wish to inspire my students with the opportunity to do likewise working with a life model or by field practice whenever possible. Painting is as much a physical as well as intellectual creative work which shoulder encompass many interests to trigger the imagination. An understanding of the materials; including pigments is a fascinating subject on which I enjoy sharing my knowledge.
I love colour and music that inspires painting. I love translating Rimbaud into Scots English .
