Creative Experiences in Scotland
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh captures the imagination of every visitor. Learn how to observe, draw and paint its extravaganza of plants in a 2-day painting workshop with local artist Jackie Philip.
Jackie is a professional artist who lives and paints – mainly in oils – in Edinburgh and on her travels across the world. You can find out more about her and see examples of her work on her profile page.
You can work in either oils or acrylics – we will check with you at the time of booking which medium you prefer. Develop a painting or series of work with personalised tuition. The workshop is suitable for beginners and more experienced painters alike and contents will be tailored to your skills level and interests. Jackie is very familiar with the botanical gardens as she often paints there herself. She’ll take you to the best and most interesting spots! Features include the Caledonian section with large Scots Pines, heaths & running stream, Chinese and Tibetan planting around a red footbridge pagoda and pond, Herbaceous Border and growing plots with an array of colourful flowers and herbs (seasonal) and the Glasshouses.
If you chose to work in oils we can ship your finished pieces to your home address at an additional cost, once dry.
It’s impossible to summarise the Scottish capital city in one paragraph. Edinburgh is buzzing with creativity, culture and history. Ten Hill Place Hotel is a 4-star hotel owned by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and all profits from the hotel go back into training surgeons worldwide. It’s recently been refurbished and the spacious lounge is a feelgood space to sit and relax. Edinburgh is quite easy for moving around by public transport or taxis, so there’s no need to bring or hire a car.
